Description of Activities:We have been dedicated to science and improving the quality of education for 46 years. In accordance with the Bologna Process, we implement four study programs at the basic academic studies: General Agronomy, Fruit and Viticulture, Zootechnics and Food Technology; the new joint study program “Nutritionism and Food Processing” which will be implemented with the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Kragujevac is on the way to accreditation. At the second level of study, we realize two master’s programs – Food Technology and Agronomy with four modules (Agricultural and vegetable growing, Fruit growing and viticulture, Zootechnics and Plant protection). Doctoral studies are in the field of Agronomy. 19 modern and exceptionally equipped laboratories within the faculty are functional, we do consult and analysis for various economic entities in the Agri Food sector. We implement domestic and international scientific and professional projects, develop scientific cooperation at all levels. Publishing the scientific journal Acta Agriculturae Serbica is part of a tradition that has been going on for 28 years (since 1996).
Two issues of the magazine are published annually, and it is available in printed (ISSN 0354-9542 – printed) and online version (ISSN 2560-3140 – online). We have been holding the International
Biotechnology Symposium (category M30 – M31/M33) continuously for 30 years. The review of scientific works of agronomy students is organized every two years (at the end of August), so far 12 reviews have been held. All study programs were accredited, first in 2008, 2009 and 2013 and successively in 2019/2020/2021. year. Imperative: production of quality and health-safe and “eco-friendly” food, preventing air, water and soil pollution as basic resources for the survival of the living world. Global climate change: challenge upon challenge. Continuous education of students and experts is the only possible way and way to answer them, by applying new knowledge and technologies.
Target group:
Students/graduates of high schools whose outcomes are oriented towards agriculture and food technology, that is, the educational-scientific field of technical and technological sciences (scientific fields of biotechnical science and technological
engineering). We continuously establish long-term cooperation with famers and processors, subjects of food business (Agri-Food sector), as well as with higher education institutions and scientific research organizations.
Territory: Republic Serbia
Achievements:About 1,900 students at all levels of study graduated, occupying important positions as experts and managers in the Serbian Agri-Food, educational-research, entrepreneurial and business ecosystem. According to a survey of 488 graduate engineers who completed their studies in the last 10 years, 62% are employed, 17% are employed outside the profession, 12% are improving work on their own farms, and about 9% are unemployed. Outstanding scientific production and dissemination of scientific results (a large number of chapters and monographs, scientific papers, participation in domestic and international scientific meetings, technical solutions and patents), as well as excellent coverage of teaching subjects in textbooks authored by teachers and associates of the Faculty of Agriculture in Čačak. Teachers and students win significant awards for scientific work and technological innovation. We organize two scientific meetings (Symposium on Biotechnology and Review of Scientific Papers of Agronomy Students), we publish 1 journal (Acta Agriculturae Serbica, M24) and we edit 1 international journal with 9 European countries – Journal of Central European Agricuturae – JCEA, M23, on the SCI list, IF 0.7 for 2023.
Other: We are proud of the strong development component that is possible on the basis of a strong corporate culture and inherited intellectual capital that we strive to preserve in the manner of good hosts, diligent researchers and attentive teachers.
